Bears Surge to Third in Super Bowl Betting Odds
The Bears’ win over Seattle lifted them to the third-shortest Super Bowl odds at BetMGM, where San Francisco is +600 and Buffalo is +550. Christian Cipollini, a senior manager at the sportsbook, said Chicago had attracted 30% of the money wagered on Super Bowl futures, more than any other team during that period.
Chicago opened the season at 25/1. Its odds had already improved from 14/1 to 11/1 after the team traded for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons last week. In his first game with the Bears, Simmons made six tackles and recorded a sack.
The offense, led by quarterback Caleb Williams, has been a major part of the team’s rise. Chicago has put up 30 or more points in all but one of the games Williams has started: a Week 2 defeat to Minnesota, when a hamstring injury forced him out. Among qualified quarterbacks, Williams is No. 2 in QBR, at 78.9, and completion percentage, at 70.9%. His MVP odds have moved from 12/1 to +800, with only Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Brock Purdy ahead.
The Bears still face a difficult route to the top of the NFC North. They trail the 6-1 Vikings and are 0-2 in division games, having lost to Minnesota at home and Green Bay on the road. Their remaining schedule is rated the NFL’s toughest by Tankathon, with games against Detroit twice, Buffalo on the road, Jacksonville, Green Bay and Minnesota in Week 18. A strong finish could further improve Chicago’s odds before the postseason.
