Bears beat Seahawks 34-17 to reach 6-2

The Bears never trailed in Seattle and finished off their 34-17 win with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Chicago has now defeated the two clubs that played in last season’s Super Bowl in back-to-back weeks and is off to its best start since 2012.

Quarterback Caleb Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown without an interception. Chicago converted seven of 15 third downs; Seattle managed one conversion in 11 attempts. The Bears pace the NFL with 51 offensive third-down conversions and have allowed a league-low 19 in 80 tries.

Running back D’Andre Swift scored three times on the ground, reaching 10 rushing touchdowns in the season’s first eight games. He carried 27 times for 69 yards. Chicago’s defense helped seal the result when Austin Booker deflected a Sam Darnold pass that James Lynch intercepted with 5:52 remaining. Swift scored shortly afterward from the Seahawks’ 6-yard line.

New Bears defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, acquired from Tennessee last week in a trade involving two first-round picks, recorded a sack in his Chicago debut. Booker also blocked a field-goal attempt. Tight end Colston Loveland lost a fumble early in the fourth quarter, helping Seattle cut the lead to 20-17.

Chicago was penalized 10 times for 85 yards, while Seattle had five penalties for 43 yards. The Bears host Tampa Bay next, in their last of three consecutive primetime games.
