Man Killed in Germantown Hit-and-Run as Police Seek Driver

At about 8:17 p.m. on November 2, a vehicle struck the man as he crossed near McMahon Street on East Chelten Avenue, then left the scene, police said. The crash occurred near the Social Security office in the 600 block of East Chelten Avenue.

The victim was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police have not released his identity. Reports gave different ages for the man, so his age has not been included here.

Investigators collected evidence at the scene, including a piece of a side-view mirror that broke off in the crash. Police believe the vehicle was a Ford Escape and are asking anyone with information about the collision or driver to contact the department.
