Ted Turner Named to Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot

Turner is listed as an executive on the ballot for managers, executives and umpires. He died on May 6 at age 87. The panel’s decision will determine whether he is elected to the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2027; candidates must receive 75 percent or more of the ballots to be inducted.

Turner owned the Braves from 1976 until the late 1990s and helped make the team a fixture on TBS, the television network he built. The broadcasts brought Braves games to viewers across the country and helped establish the team’s national following.

The Braves reached the World Series in 1991, 1992 and 1996, winning the championship in 1995. Turner also briefly served as the team’s manager, for one game on May 11, 1977. Atlanta lost 2-1 to Pittsburgh, leaving the club with an 8-22 record that season.

The ballot includes four managers and four executives. The 16-person Hall panel includes team officials, former athletes, journalists and historians, and is scheduled to announce its choices on December 6, 2026.
