Lendeborg’s 37 points lead Warriors past Clippers

Lendeborg shot 13 for 19 from the field and made six of 11 three-pointers, adding six assists and four rebounds. His total was the most by a Warriors rookie since Stephen Curry scored 42 in 2010. Lendeborg has now scored at least 20 points in four of his first seven NBA games.

Golden State played without Curry and Draymond Green, who were rested for the first game of a back-to-back. De’Anthony Melton scored 21 points, while Brandin Podziemski and Brandon Williams each had 17. The Warriors’ bench contributed 40 points.

Lendeborg bounced back from a difficult game against the Lakers on Friday, when he scored six points and fouled out. He said teammates encouraged him to try to reach 40 points late in Sunday’s game, but he missed the shot. He said he would aim to play within the flow of the game next time.

Rui Hachimura led the Clippers with 24 points, and Kobe Sanders added 16 off the bench. Los Angeles has lost five straight. The Warriors’ win was their fourth in a row after opening the season with three losses.

The Clippers host Toronto on Monday, while Golden State hosts Phoenix that night.
