Novak Claims First Individual PGA Tour Title in Mexico
Andrew Novak turned a commanding lead into a five-shot victory at the Mexico Open in Vallarta, Mexico, earning his first individual PGA Tour title on November 1. He closed with a 2-under 69 after building his advantage with rounds of 61 and 62 over the previous two days.
Novak’s six-shot cushion narrowed to three after a bogey on the 10th, but he answered with birdies on the 12th, 13th and 14th holes. His birdie on the 12th followed a bunker shot to four feet, and he made a 45-foot putt on the 14th to complete the run. “That kind of really settled everything,” Novak said.
Steven Fisk and Kristoffer Ventura each shot 63 to finish tied for second. The result lifted Ventura from 108th to 76th in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, securing his full playing card for 2027. Mackenzie Hughes tied for fourth after a 66, moving to 101st with three tournaments left and saying the finish gave him momentum.
Novak also climbed from 89th to 53rd in the standings. His victory puts him in position to play at two elite tournaments with $20 million purses next year, one at Pebble Beach and the other at Riviera, and secures his place in the upper Championship Series beginning in 2028. It was his first individual win after partnering with Ben Griffin to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2025.
