Rams Rally Past Chargers for Second Straight Win

The Rams turned a slow start into a 24-9 win over the winless Chargers at SoFi Stadium on November 1. Los Angeles is now 4-4 after stringing together back-to-back wins for the first time in the current campaign. The Chargers fell to 0-7, their worst start since 2000.

Both teams threw early interceptions. Rams cornerback Quentin Lake picked off Justin Herbert and returned the ball 45 yards to set up a field goal. Matthew Stafford also threw an interception, and the Rams failed to move the chains during each of their opening five possessions. The Chargers led 9-3 late in the first half.

A 40-yard Stafford completion to Tutu Atwell finally got the Rams moving. Stafford then connected with Puka Nacua to set up Kyren Williams’ one-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds left before halftime, putting the Rams ahead 10-9.

Blake Corum ran for 55 yards on the Rams’ first drive after halftime, including a 23-yard touchdown that made it 17-9. Later in the quarter, Trent McDuffie intercepted Herbert. Two plays afterward, Nacua caught an 18-yard touchdown pass. Nacua finished with 11 catches for 80 yards; Stafford threw for 157 yards and a score. Herbert had 257 passing yards and two interceptions.

The Rams’ defense held the Chargers without a touchdown, and Los Angeles stopped a fourth-down attempt in the fourth quarter before running down the clock. The Rams visit Washington next, while the Chargers host Houston, with both games scheduled for Sunday.
