You Can See Everything Edges Clayface in Halloween Box Office Race

You Can See Everything was estimated to earn $10.6 million in U.S. and Canadian theaters over the weekend, putting the documentary just ahead of Clayface, which took in an estimated $10.4 million. Final weekend figures were due Monday. The result would give the documentary its first No. 1 finish, in its third weekend of release, and bring its domestic total to about $63.9 million. It was made for a reported $7 million.

Clayface, a Batman-villain origin story, earned an estimated $44.1 million domestically over its first two weekends, against a reported production cost of $44 million. Its worldwide total reached $83 million, including $38.9 million from international markets.

Halloween falling on Saturday, with no major new wide releases, contributed to a quiet weekend for theaters. Estimates for the total North American box office varied: one projection put it below $63 million, while another forecast less than $56 million. Both accounts described the weekend as among the weakest of the year.

Laika’s animated fantasy Wildwood placed third with $7.5 million, bringing its domestic total to roughly $25 million. Wicker, a romantic fantasy starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, ranked fourth with $4.1 million. Street Fighter rounded out the top five with $3.2 million.

The domestic box office was still up more than 17% from the same point last year, with nearly $8.5 billion in ticket sales. The holiday release calendar is expected to bring a busier run of films, including Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three in December.
