Millis Resident Accidentally Gave Laxatives to Trick-or-Treaters

Police in Millis, Massachusetts, said a resident accidentally gave out MiraFAST laxative packets to children trick-or-treating on October 31. Officers identified the home on May Road where the packets were distributed, and asked families whose children visited the area to check their candy bags.

An 11-year-old ate one of the packets, police said. The child’s parents are monitoring the child. The packets were sealed and contained magnesium hydroxide, an ingredient in the over-the-counter laxative.

Police initially said they were investigating whether the packets had been handed out deliberately or by mistake. They later identified the distribution as accidental and thanked residents who helped them locate the home.

Police urged anyone whose child trick-or-treated nearby to inspect their candy. They also asked anyone with details or anyone potentially impacted to call the Millis Police Department.
