Truck Crash Shuts Restaurant Dining Rooms in Concord
A pickup truck crashed through the front of Chicken Thyme in Concord at about 2:10 p.m. on October 24, sending glass and debris across the restaurant. Security footage captured the impact as owner Fraidoon Jamshed moved out of the truck’s path behind the counter. Seven or eight customers were inside; no one was injured.
The collision brought down a concrete support column measuring 16 by 16 inches, damaging a structure that supports the roof. Concord closed the restaurant’s indoor dining area, and repairs could take months, Jamshed said.
The kitchens remain open for takeout and delivery. The dining rooms of two neighboring businesses, Kabob Craze and Little Thai House, have also closed, while their kitchens continue operating from another part of the shopping complex.
Police arrested the 22-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. He showed signs of intoxication and was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Jamshed estimated the truck was traveling about 70 to 80 miles per hour and said its accelerator was still engaged after the crash.
Chicken Thyme, a family-owned restaurant that opened in 2024, is asking customers to support it with takeout and delivery orders while repairs proceed.
