Lagway’s Four Touchdowns Power Baylor Past UCF

Baylor opened the scoring with a touchdown pass from Lagway to tight end Tony Livingston, then built its lead with three more touchdown throws. Lagway completed 16 of 25 passes without an interception, finding Livingston again, hitting Gavin Freeman on a 77-yard touchdown and connecting with Matthew Klopfenstein for a five-yard touchdown. Caden Knighten added a short rushing touchdown, bringing Baylor’s record to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play.

The win came days after Baylor dismissed Dave Aranda following a one-point loss to Kansas. Klanderman, the Bears’ first-year defensive coordinator, took over as interim coach. Baylor’s offense surpassed 450 yards by the close of the third quarter, and the team finished with 503 total yards. Freeman had 114 receiving yards, while Ryelan Morris led the ground game with 82 yards on 11 carries.

Baylor’s defense kept UCF out of the end zone and recorded seven sacks. The Knights managed field goals of 35, 39 and 57 yards; the last set a UCF record. Quarterback Keyone Jenkins left in the third quarter with an apparent lower-leg injury. Alonza Barnett III, returning after missing five games with a hamstring injury, replaced him.

UCF fell to 4-4 and 2-3 in the Big 12, a week after beating then-No. 2 BYU. Baylor hosts Iowa State next Saturday, while UCF visits Kansas.
