Holmgren to Miss Eight to 10 Weeks With Knee Injury

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without Chet Holmgren for at least two months after he received treatment Friday, October 30, for a small tear in his right patellar tendon. The team said he began feeling discomfort in the knee on Sunday and is expected to return in eight to 10 weeks.

Holmgren, who has missed Oklahoma City’s past two games, appeared in three games this season. He averaged 12 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. His absence leaves the Thunder without a key frontcourt player as they manage several injuries early in the season.

Cason Wallace also had surgery Friday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He will be assessed again before the regular season ends. Jalen Williams, who broke his left fibula and dislocated his left ankle on Sunday, also had surgery and is due for another evaluation before the end of the regular season.

Oklahoma City is 4-1 despite the injuries. Isaiah Hartenstein is among the available frontcourt options, while Kenrich Williams and Jaylin Williams could take on more responsibility. Holmgren’s recovery timeline puts his return roughly two months away, with the length of his absence dependent on his progress.
