Daniel Stewart Shares Tribute to Father Patrick Stewart

Daniel Stewart posted a throwback photo on X on October 29 showing him carrying his father, Patrick Stewart, piggyback onstage. Both are smiling in the image, which Daniel shared without a caption. The post came a day after the actor died at 86 at his Los Angeles home, following a brief struggle with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

Patrick’s family announced his death on Instagram on October 29. Its statement said he had been surrounded by family and friends, music, prayer, tears and laughter. Patrick was known for his roles in Star Trek and the X-Men films, among other work.

In a 2023 interview, Patrick spoke about his estrangement from Daniel and his daughter, Sophie, whom he had with former wife Sheila Falconer. He said he had put acting ahead of family and felt grief over the distance between them. Patrick also said he was trying to make amends where possible with his grandchildren, and that his children seemed to have forgiven him. He is survived by Daniel, Sophie and his wife, Sunny Ozell.
