Dolly Parton’s Estate Seeks Police Bodycam Footage
Court documents say She’s Alive, LLC requested footage from all officers present at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center on August 24 and 25. The company says the recordings may show an alleged altercation between police personnel and Bryan Seaver, Parton’s nephew and former head of security. The request comes as Seaver is involved in a legal dispute with the estate company. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 2.
People close to Seaver say he was not cited and that there was no altercation. They say he went to the medical center to coordinate the transfer of Parton’s body to a funeral home, and describe his interaction with police as a discussion. One account says officers treated him like a fugitive; Seaver believes police were directed to keep him away from Parton.
The estate company has also sued Seaver, accusing him of intimidating and harassing staff at Parton’s Nashville hotel and museum. The estate fired him after Parton’s death and secured a short-term court order limiting his conduct and that of his security firm, alleging threats against Parton’s businesses. Seaver denies those allegations and says messages cited in the dispute were personal conversations with an old friend concerning a commercial disagreement.
Seaver had announced Parton’s death. He has not publicly responded to a request for comment about the footage request.
