SNL Mocks Musk Over Midterm Losses

On November 7, Jeremy Culhane appeared as Elon Musk on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, where anchor Colin Jost pressed the character about Musk’s political spending and the midterm results. The real Musk had spent nearly $500 million backing Republican candidates, while most statewide races in Texas went to Democrats, the reports said.

Culhane’s Musk repeatedly dodged questions, returning to a story about a car doing a flip. Jost also asked about Tesla halting Cybertruck production, then pointed out the irony of Musk moving to Texas after objecting to Democratic rule in California, only for Democrats to win most of Texas’s statewide contests. Asked how that made him feel, the character answered, “Bad.”

The sketch ended with Musk asking the AI chatbot Grok to roast him. Its responses included a barb calling him the worst thing South Africa had ever done, a joke about his television appearances and a line about whether any of his children would talk to him. Jost expressed disbelief that Musk was the world’s richest person; the character then left the desk after telling Grok to stop.
