Kristaps Porziņģis steps away from basketball to focus on health

Porziņģis, 31, announced his decision in a social media statement, saying he had looked forward to playing with the Warriors this season but was not physically ready to perform at the level he expects of himself.

He said he was doing well, but had chosen to put his health first and take a break from the game. Porziņģis had been away from the team while dealing with health issues.

Porziņģis said he wanted to work with Golden State to find a solution that made sense, and thanked his family and supporters. The statement did not specify what that arrangement would be or how long he would be away.
