Krivas Leads Arizona Past Cal Poly in 104-84 Win
Arizona responded to its season-opening loss to UCLA with a decisive win in its home opener. The Wildcats led 59-41 at halftime after building a 27-7 run, then maintained a comfortable margin through the second half to finish 20 points ahead of Cal Poly.
Krivas made 10 of 13 shots and added eight rebounds, following an eight-point performance against UCLA. Arizona dominated inside, outscoring Cal Poly 56-26 in the paint, and shot 55% from the field. Caleb Holt scored 21 points, while Ivan Kharchenkov added 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Cameron Holmes contributed 13 points.
Hamad Mousa led Cal Poly with 30 points, making eight of his 10 three-point attempts. Bryce James, son of LeBron James, scored his first college basket on a three-pointer early in the game and finished with five points.
Holmes stood out among Arizona’s reserves, scoring 11 points in the first half and finishing with 13. The rest of the bench had a quieter night: three backup big men combined for eight points, while JJ Mandaquit scored two. Arizona’s effort remained energetic late in the game, including plays in which Holt and Kharchenkov dove for loose balls.
Arizona is scheduled to host Northern Arizona on November 10. Cal Poly’s next game is at Grand Canyon on November 11.
