Texas Tech Extends Home Streak to 48 Games

Texas Tech overcame a slow start and pulled away late for a 76-58 win over Bethune-Cookman in Lubbock on November 5. Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn scored 25 points for the No. 19 Red Raiders, who improved to 2-0. Cruz Davis added 15 points, while Josiah Moseley had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Bethune-Cookman, now 0-2, cut the margin to six twice in the second half. Vuk Boskovic’s three-pointer made it 53-47 with 9:20 remaining, but Texas Tech answered with a 12-1 run and kept a double-digit advantage through the final eight minutes. Boskovic scored 10 points; Connor Teasley had 11, and Jaylen Jones also finished with 10.

The victory extended Texas Tech’s run of nonconference home wins to 48. The team has won 102 of its past 103 such games, with its only loss in that span coming against Kentucky in overtime in January 2020. The Red Raiders are 25-0 in those games under coach Grant McCasland.

Both teams made 19 free throws, in a game that featured 63 attempts from the line and 51 fouls. Texas Tech played without post player JT Toppin, who is rehabbing a torn right ACL. Bethune-Cookman visits Grand Canyon on Saturday, while Texas Tech hosts No. 3 Illinois on Tuesday.
