Clemson Shuffles Lineup for Syracuse After Florida State Win

Clemson will make several lineup changes when it faces Syracuse at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, after injuries in its win over Florida State. Kickoff is scheduled for noon, with the game on ESPN2.

Sophomore Gavin Blanchard is listed as the starting left guard in place of Elyjah Thurmon, who is in concussion protocol after being taken to hospital following a collision. Coach Dabo Swinney said Thurmon was doing well and had attended a team meeting.

At center, true freshman Grant Wise is set to start for Harris Sewell, who injured an ankle and will have tightrope surgery. Swinney said Sewell is expected to miss several games, with a possible return for the South Carolina matchup near the end of the month. Freshman Chance Barclay is listed behind Wise.

Running back Gideon Davidson, Clemson’s leader in carries, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, will miss the Syracuse game with a low-grade ankle sprain. Senior Jarvis Green is set to start. Chris Johnson Jr. and Jay Haynes could also get carries.

Fifth-year linebacker Kobe McCloud is expected to miss a few games with an undisclosed injury. C.J. Kubah-Taylor has moved into the sole backup spot behind Sammy Brown at weakside linebacker.
