Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation at Gibraltar Polling Site
Carlson High School in Gibraltar, Michigan, was evacuated on November 3 after a bomb threat was called in. The school is being used for Brownstown Township precincts 8 and 11 on Election Day.
Officers from Gibraltar Police, Brownstown Township Police and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office searched the area. Police said the sweep was being conducted as a precaution and that they take threats seriously, emphasizing the safety of voters and ballot staff and the public’s trust in the electoral system.
Voting was not fully interrupted: voters were moved to the school parking lot, where they could continue casting ballots while police investigated. Authorities urged the public to stay away from the school during the response.
Officials had not released further details about the threat or said whether the search found any suspicious devices. They said additional information would be shared as it became available.
