Man Arrested in Fatal Midtown Atlanta Hotel Case

Atlanta police arrested Emanuel Poindexter on murder and aggravated battery charges in connection with a woman’s death at the Loews Atlanta Hotel. Officers went to the hotel, at 1065 Peachtree St. NE, on October 14 and found the woman dead in a room. The next day, the county’s medical examiner classified her death as a homicide.

Detectives identified Poindexter as a suspect and obtained arrest warrants on October 22, after an eight-day investigation. Before he was taken into custody, he was receiving medical care in Gwinnett County for a self-inflicted knife wound.

After doctors cleared him for release, Atlanta police took Poindexter to the Fulton County Jail. Police said his arrest would close the case. The woman’s identity has not been released.
