Bethesda Names The Elder Scrolls VI Sentinel

Bethesda revealed the title on November 3 in a short teaser video released as part of a celebration of the studio’s 40th anniversary. The name appears rising from sand. Studio chief Todd Howard said it was the right time to give the game its full title.

The announcement brings a name to the sequel, which Bethesda first announced about eight years ago. The studio did not provide a release window, new gameplay footage or further details alongside the reveal. It said more information would take some time.

Sentinel is a major city located in Hammerfell, a territory within the fictional world of The Elder Scrolls, and the game is expected to take place there. The teaser also points toward the ancient origins of the Elder Scrolls and their secrets. Bethesda has described the game as exploring the history of the artifacts.

The reveal arrives about 15 years after The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released. Skyrim remains the most recent mainline entry in the series. The new game’s launch is still more than two years away, according to an estimate cited in coverage of the announcement.
