Vivienne Jolie Legally Drops Pitt From Her Name

Vivienne, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has legally removed Pitt from her surname. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge approved her petition at a hearing on November 2. Her attorney, Peter Kenneth Levine, attended remotely, and the court issued a decree changing her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.

Court documents described the reason for the request as personal. Before the hearing, Vivienne published notice of her petition in a Los Angeles newspaper for four consecutive weeks, a step required in California before a name-change request can be finalized.

She had already used Jolie professionally. In 2024, the Broadway musical The Outsiders listed her in its program as Vivienne Jolie; she worked on the production with her mother.

Vivienne is 18 and one of six children of Jolie and Pitt. Her sisters Shiloh and Zahara have also legally dropped Pitt from their names. The name changes come amid the family’s estrangement following the couple’s separation. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, and the former couple settled their divorce in December 2024 after a lengthy legal dispute.
