Colorado Opens Season Against Abilene Christian
The Colorado Buffaloes begin their season at home against Abilene Christian in Boulder on November 2. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Mountain time, or 9 p.m. Eastern time. Colorado is a heavy favorite, with ESPN Analytics assigning the Buffaloes a 92.6% chance to win.
Colorado coach Tad Boyle said the Wildcats stand out for pressuring ball handlers and disrupting passing lanes. He pointed to Colorado’s exhibition games against Marquette and North Texas, when the Buffaloes committed 18 and 16 turnovers, respectively. Colorado’s players have worked on handling pressure in practice, Boyle said.
Forward Goc Malual said the team has added drills to strengthen its ball security and reduce turnovers, and plans to keep working on those habits beyond the opener. Senior guard Barrington Hargress had four turnovers against North Texas, despite averaging 1.2 per game in 2025.
Colorado finished last season 17-16, including a 13-5 record at home. The Buffaloes averaged 80.2 points per game, shooting 46.7% overall and 35.2% from three-point range. Abilene Christian went 4-3 in United Athletic Conference play and 3-12 on the road. The Wildcats averaged 16.6 points from turnovers, 10.4 second-chance points and 5.8 bench points per game.
