Brewers Celebrate World Series Win on SNL’s Weekend Update

The Milwaukee Brewers brought their first World Series title to Saturday Night Live on November 1, appearing on Weekend Update alongside Bobby Moynihan, who returned as his Drunk Uncle character. Manager Pat Murphy joined Yelich, the team’s designated hitter, and Turang, who plays second base, for the surprise appearance, with the team’s trophy also featured.

The Brewers had clinched the championship on Wednesday, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5. The victory marked the first World Series title in the franchise’s history, which spans nearly 60 years.

During the segment, Drunk Uncle celebrated the team’s win while grumbling about baseball’s shorter games following rule changes. He also joked that Yelich was Pete Davidson. Murphy compared managing a baseball team to being its “Drunk Uncle,” while Yelich assured Moynihan the championship was real.

The episode also marked Inde Navarrette’s first time hosting SNL, and Gracie Abrams’ debut as the show’s musical guest. Moynihan was a cast member from 2009 to 2017 and last played Drunk Uncle during the show’s 50th anniversary special.
