Louisville Pulls Away From Stanford for 52-24 Win
Louisville scored 28 unanswered points after Stanford tied the game at 24 in the third quarter, turning a close contest into a 52-24 victory on October 31. The Cardinals improved to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while Stanford fell to 4-5 and 2-4.
Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score. He completed 20 of 28 passes and added 62 rushing yards. He reached 300-plus yards of offense and three touchdowns for the fifth time this season, more than any Louisville quarterback since Lamar Jackson had 10 such games in 2017.
Stanford took the lead twice during the second quarter, then leveled the score at 24 early in the third on a 40-yard touchdown pass to running back Micah Ford. Louisville answered with a touchdown reception by Isaac Brown, who also scored twice more on runs, including a 75-yard breakaway. Brown finished with 139 rushing yards on nine carries and four total touchdowns.
Tre Richardson caught 10 passes for 140 yards as Louisville amassed 545 yards of offense, including 296 on the ground. Stanford quarterback Davis Warren passed for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Louisville’s defense forced turnovers and stopped Stanford on fourth down as the Cardinals pulled away.
Stanford is now 0-4 on the road this season and has lost 15 consecutive road games, the longest active streak in the FBS. Louisville visits Georgia Tech next Saturday; Stanford’s next listed game is at Virginia Tech on November 14.
