Iowa Blanks Wisconsin 30-0 Behind Brown’s Two Touchdowns

Iowa’s offense and defense both delivered in a 30-0 win over Wisconsin at Kinnick Stadium on October 31. The Hawkeyes reached a 6-2 mark overall, with a 3-2 Big Ten record, while the Badgers fell to 5-3 and 3-2. It was Iowa’s third shutout this season and its second straight against Wisconsin.

Quarterback Hank Brown completed 20 of 24 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He found tight end DJ Vonnahme for a 4-yard score in the first quarter, then threw another 4-yard touchdown to Tony Diaz after Iowa drove 98 yards. Vonnahme scored on a third-quarter rush, and Caden Buhr made three field goals, including a career-best 54-yarder.

Iowa scored on its opening possession and six of its first seven. Brown’s performance followed a 13-10 loss to Minnesota the previous week, when he entered the game from the bench. Against Wisconsin, he completed passes to seven receivers and strengthened his case to remain the starting quarterback.

The Hawkeyes limited Wisconsin to 235 total yards and 52 rushing yards. The Badgers’ best scoring chance came in the second quarter, when they reached Iowa’s 1-yard line but were stopped on fourth down. Wisconsin quarterback Colton Joseph was replaced in the second half after completing five of 14 passes for 90 yards; his lost fumble helped set up an Iowa field goal.

Iowa has now outscored Wisconsin 148-26 during five consecutive wins in the series. Wisconsin hosts Rutgers next Saturday, while Iowa visits Northwestern.
