Selma Blair Apologizes After Arrest in Plane Incident

Blair said she had been quiet since October 11 and wanted to address supporters directly. She apologized to people who, she said, had been disappointed, hurt, frightened or alarmed by the incident, adding that she had never intended to harm or frighten anyone.

She said her attorneys had counseled her to remain silent about the events while the case is pending. Blair thanked people who had sent messages of support and said she would concentrate on her health and her son. She also said her service dog, Scout, was OK.

Blair was arrested after an alleged incident aboard a Delta flight bound for New York. Authorities said two flight attendants were injured, and one was taken to hospital. After the plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Blair was accused of assaulting a Port Authority police officer and a nurse.

She has denied the two charges of assault in the second degree. Her attorney has said Blair experienced a medical emergency, had missed several doses of medication and struck her head after falling aboard the plane. Blair’s representative has also attributed the alleged conduct to a medical emergency.

The case is scheduled to return to court in Queens on January 19, 2027.
