Whole Foods Ashwagandha Capsules Recalled Over Salmonella Risk
Published October 30, 2026. Vitality Works Inc. is recalling lot 2025-26227 of 365-brand ashwagandha capsules, a 120-count product featuring a standardized, full-spectrum blend. The capsules were available at Whole Foods stores and through Amazon from November 24, 2025, to October 20, 2026. The recall covers sales across the country, including stores in the states and the District of Columbia listed for the product.
The Food and Drug Administration said the potential contamination came to light during routine sampling of a retail unit. No illnesses connected to the capsules have been reported. The lot number and expiration date, 10/13/2028, appear on the underside of the bottle; the UPC is 9948252099.
Customers who have the recalled capsules are advised not to take them and to discard the bottles rather than return them to a store. Refunds are available at Whole Foods Market locations. Customers with questions can contact Vitality Works at (505) 268-9950.
Salmonella infection can cause fever, diarrhea and abdominal pain, with symptoms often beginning within six hours to six days after exposure. Young children, older adults, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems face greater risk of severe illness.
