Former Turkey Leg Hut Co-Owner Sentenced in Bar 5015 Arson
Price received a federal prison sentence of more than eight years, followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence followed his guilty plea earlier this year to conspiracy to commit arson. His remaining charges were dismissed at sentencing. The court also ordered him to complete an anger management program.
Price acknowledged instructing a worker at Turkey Leg Hut to recruit people to ignite the Houston nightclub. Those involved transported gasoline to the business and intentionally started the blaze, which led to an explosion at the Almeda Road venue in June 2020. The fire damaged part of the bar and a food truck nearby; prosecutors put the damage at about $750,000. No injuries were reported.
In a statement shared through his Oyster Hut business, Price said he accepted the plea for the sake of his family and loved ones, while also saying he had not committed the crime. Prosecutors described Price as having an unchecked ego and said the arson followed a dispute after the bar’s owner did not bend to his demands.
Investigators said surveillance footage showed people carrying five-gallon jugs onto the property and spreading gasoline across a wooden deck outside the entrance before someone ignited it. Two other people have also pleaded guilty in connection with the arson. Price was among five defendants charged in the case.
