Lions Surprise Injured Warren Student With Gift and Call

Trevor Travier, a seventh grader at Lincoln Middle School, was riding his bicycle near Van Dyke Avenue and Nine Mile Road on October 15 when a pickup truck struck him. He was taken to a hospital and then flown to Ann Arbor for care at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. His injuries have required several surgeries, with further treatment ahead; his parents reported extensive nerve injuries, and one finger had to be amputated.

On October 29, school resource officer Adnan Durrani delivered a gift package from the Detroit Lions. It included a Jameson Williams jersey, two team hats, a small helmet, a team-themed necklace, and a bobblehead depicting Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Williams also called Travier on FaceTime to encourage him as he recovers.

Durrani, who graduated from Lincoln and played football there, explained his aim was to create a memorable moment for the middle-schooler. During the call, the two talked about playing Madden. Travier’s father said his son’s smile was the most important thing, while his mother said the call lifted his spirits after surgery. The family is focused on his recovery, and his parents said the crash investigation is ongoing.
